Our Travel Plans

Luke and I began seeking quotes for a Round the World trip for the latter half of 2011 as early as August last year (2009). At long last, the trip was booked in October (as flights had finally been released by the airlines), 10 months in advance of the departure date.

We are now 9 weeks away from beginning our overseas’ adventure of a lifetime.

Whilst I have travelled to other countries before (Japan, Vietnam, Cambodia, Thailand, USA and Mexico), this is Luke’s first international journey. Also, out of the places we are going, I have only ever been to San Francisco. It is a very exciting time for us both.

The following is a summarised version of our current itinerary (with the ability to change).

July 3 – 6: Hong Kong

July 7 – 8: Munich, Germany

July 8 – 17: Paris, France

July 17 – 19: Bruges, Belgium

July 19 – 22: Amsterdam, the Netherlands

July 22 – 31: Berlin, Germany (including two nights in the cities of Braunsweig and Madgeburg)

July 31 – August 3: Prague, Czech Republic

August 3 – 6: Vienna, Austria

August 6 – 7: Munich, Germany

August 7 – 10: Venice, Italy

August 10 – 13: Rome, Italy

August 13 – 16: Florence, Italy

August 16 – 19: Nice, France

August 19 – 26: Barcelona, Spain

August 26 – 28: Valencia, Spain

August 28 – 31: Madrid, Spain

August 31 – September 14: New York, USA

September 14 – 21: San Francisco, USA (with a trip to San Luis Obispo via Highway 1)

Three of our must-dos are to:

- savour some french cheese and wine on the banks of the river Seine in Paris

- discover the city’s rich artistic culture by walking the streets of Berlin

- appreciate the abundance of live music in the village in New York

We just want the next 62.5 days to pass by quickly, then the next three months to last forever.
